Summer Travel Sketchbook

Create a beautiful memento while capturing your travel memories! This workshop focuses on the fun and fundamentals keeping a travel sketchbook. Learn the basics of capturing land, sea, and city scapes, as well as trees and buildings. Open to students of all experience levels the class includes basic drawing in pencil and ink, water based media painting techniques with a study of composition and mixed media techniques.

This course is designed for the beginning and intermediate student interested learning about the art of beautiful writing. Basic calligraphic forms and techniques, including gold building and monogram design will be explored.

Fatal Attraction: Learn to Draw & Paint

This course is designed for the beginning and intermediate student interested in developing their drawing and painting skills with botanical subjects. In this course, we will be focusing on one of the most curious botanical groups: carnivorous plants. Our study will include: careful study of line, light, shade and shadow, as well as basic color theory; study of basic compositional principles, both Eastern and Western traditions; exploration of dry and wet media and its various techniques including pencil, ink, colored pencil and basic watercolor; and study of botanical anatomy and forms. We will also explore how to make various media from botanical sources, creating stained papers and using the media in a field sketching environment.
