The summer is a wonderful time for outdoor, or plein air, painting! The colors of the landscape and often times water scenes with strong light are particularly compelling to the artist's eye. Here are two artists whose works in the medium of watercolor have been an inspiration to many, John Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer. Both ar American 19th century painters who traveled widely.
